To work in the Enfield Community Brain Injury Service and the Headway London Day Service (East) completing administrative tasks, providing one-to-one therapy and group work independently and in conjunction with the therapy team. PRINCINPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Therapeutic Intervention and Rehabilitation Run a variety of therapeutic groups including dance, open gym sessions, chair-based exercise, upper limb therapy, yoga, tai chi and relaxation, memory and cognitive groups, peer support and brain injury education sessions ensuring a wide range of therapeutic programmes is on offer. Carry out personalised therapy programmes with members / clients,, monitor their progress against their rehabilitation goal(s) and progress as able or provide feedback to qualified therapy staff: Examples of techniques include (but is not limited to) gym programmes, mobility practice, travel practice, relaxation techniques, behavioural activation interventions, upper limb rehabilitation and interventions to support members to develop and maintain a daily and weekly structure to promote their psychological and physical wellbeing. Support individuals to practise and consolidate therapeutic strategies developed by qualified therapy staff, such as memory aids, anger management techniques, anxiety management strategies, and other rehabilitation approaches. Facilitate the application and generalisation of these strategies across a range of environments, including activities in the day service, at home, community settings, educational placements, and other relevant contexts. Monitor progress, provide feedback on effectiveness, and identify any difficulties or emerging needs that require review by a qualified. Contribute to the evaluation of therapeutic interventions using appropriate outcome measures, adjusting interventions as appropriate and working towards achieving personalised goals. Assessment, Clinical Reasoning and Risk Management Undertake delegated assessments and outcome measures independently, or under the direction of qualified therapy staff, including assessment of mobility, falls risk, transfers, provision of small equipment, standardised balance measures, cognitive screening tools, mood questionnaires, behavioural experiments, and Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS). Monitor and manage clinical risk in relation to own caseload, seeking guidance where appropriate. Assess an individual's capacity, to make specific decisions to gain valid and informed consent before starting treatment. Work within the legal framework with members who lack capacity to consent to assessment, treatment or intervention ensuring decisions are made in best interests and appropriate documentation, communication and safeguarding procedures are followed. Seek guidance from qualified therapists in complex cases. Client and Partnership Support Instruct carers and relatives, providing direction and guidance on a range of therapeutic activities as part of own clinical work or as directed by the qualified therapist. Work collaboratively with Headways Day Service co-ordinators, other Headway services and volunteers on members therapeutic programmes to ensure a consistent approach. Liaise with statutory services including social care, DWP, community rehabilitation teams, other voluntary services and / or any other relevant services to ensure members' needs are met outside of Headway. Clinical Documentation, Governance and Professional Practice Accurately record and feedback findings, identifying any complex issues or changes that require further assessment, intervention, or review by a qualified clinician. Maintain accurate and up to date records and monitoring documentation on all work undertaken to meet organisational and professional standards. Therapy Service Development and Sustainability Contribute to and support any projects for improving the Therapy Service and the development of the therapy group programme and seek out and develop potential collaborations with other services within the organisation eg: art and music projects, to ensure a wide range of groups exist to engage as many members as possible. Assist with relevant grant applications with support from the fundraising team to contribute to the sustainability of the therapy service. The job plan (10 P.A. on appointment) will consist of a split of DCC and SPA (up to 2.5 SPA on appointment). The SPA component is made up of 1 P.A. of core activities (appraisal, revalidation, CME, routine departmental meetings etc.) and non-core activities. Non-core activities are discussed and agreed within the Trust (via an agreed tariff and, on occasion, through a personal agreement). Non-core SPA may reflect activities such as educational supervision, research, leadership and quality improvement. Following appointment, non-core SPA may be used to participate in our consultant development programme, or in acquiring or consolidating specific skills and expertise. Non-core SPA is only available if specific activities and objectives are mutually agreed in job planning and these outputs are evaluated at annual job plan review. Through its inclusive and comprehensive job planning process, the trust commits to providing equitable working conditions to medical colleagues across specialties and their sub-specialties. Delivery of job plans, whilst owned by consultants and their Clinical Service Unit Leads, is overseen by the Divisional Director and subject to peer challenge at divisional level, thus enabling a further layer objectivity to our commitment in this regard. Allocation of time in programmed activities (PAs) The allocation of time between various duties of the post (including SPA) will be open to adjustment in consultation with the Head of Department, CSU Lead and the Trust, but initially will be as follows. A further allocation of up to 2.5 SPA is available for specific roles with defined objectives, these can be taken on in agreement with other colleagues and clinical director. The job plans will be reviewed, initially at three months and then on an annual basis DCC 7.5 PAs SPA 2.5 PAs This includes cut-up (gross examination and block selection of Consultant cut up cases), diagnostic reporting, MDT meetings (preparation and attendance), internal peer case reviews, external referrals, administration (relating to case reports), and NHS autopsies. These duties will be undertaken on a shared rota basis with colleagues. This includes core SPA of 1 for job planning, appraisal, departmental meetings, statutory and mandatory training.
