Service: Customer Support Services - ICT Closing Date: Friday 14th August 2026 Argyll and Bute Council is seeking to recruit an IT Officer to undertake a management and technical role within the IT Applications team to support the operation of existing large Council systems and to provide technical assistance in projects that require significant ICT expertise, such as in the introduction of new or replacement systems and technologies. This is a permanent hybrid post working 35 hours per week. Whilst the majority of this role can be carried out remotely, occasional team working in person is a requirement of the post so there is an expectation of periodic attendance in Lochgilphead or Helensburgh. The IT Application Support team plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of seamless ICT services to internal users, partners (e.g. HSCP) and on occasion external customers (e.g. 3rd party suppliers) by maintaining reliable and well-supported IT application environments. The team work to ensure the Council's IT system application estate remains available and in good working order through: Diagnosing and troubleshooting software issues and system faults to minimize downtime. Supporting users by responding to queries and service request. Collaborating with 3rd party suppliers, system administrators, and other IT teams to communicate issues and implement fixes. Assisting in software development cycles for applications provided by suppliers by testing new features and helping ensure smooth upgrades. Maintaining detailed documentation and reports on system issues, resolutions, and user feedback to aid continuous improvement. Providing second/third-line support, handling more complex problems escalated from our first-line support. Undertaking routine maintenance tasks such as patching, backups and DR testing. Developing in-house integrations between applications for data transfer. Supporting the Council’s data warehouse – The Data Platform. The post holder will support the ICT Projects & Liaison Manager to deliver high quality, efficient and effective ICT services to the Council and to fulfil the team’s service objectives and plans by working in partnership with colleagues, within and out with the service. Job Description TEMPORARY UNTIL 31/03/2027. Please note as this post is part time term time, your salary will be pro rata to hours and weeks worked.
