The PTS service provides transport for patients 7 days per week, including Bank holidays and weekends. Our hours of operation are currently 06:00 – 01:00 with a range of shifts to cover these hours. You will hold a valid UK manual driving licence with no more than 3 endorsement points (in exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered). The Trust is looking to recruit staff who are committed and flexible to work as Ambulance Care Assistants for the Patient Transport Service, providing high quality care and support to patients being transported for non-emergency appointments. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from treatment centres, ensuring that they are supported and cared for appropriately during their journey and that any patients feeling unwell are provided with appropriate assistance. You will provide the effective transport of patients, providing appropriate necessary assistance for patients to access vehicles. This may include supporting unsteady patients or the manoeuvring of wheelchairs around hazards or in constricted environments. In all cases you must be able to support patients with empathy, care, and dignity, ensuring that their journey is safe and comfortable and that any required support and care is offered. You will need to select and apply appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency, and scope of practice. North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need. Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident. We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Interviews Will be held on 29th 30th August & 5th 6th September. All candidates meeting the required benchmark will then be invited to take a Driving assessment at a future date. Should you be successful for this role, you will be required to complete pre-employment checks ahead of a post-recruitment training course for 3 weeks. Training courses run Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm full time with the first course commencing October 2026 with further course dates to be confirmed. Training venues will be confirmed at the offer stage. Full attendance is 100% mandatory. Visa sponsorship is not available for the role. The skill level and salary for this role does not meet the eligibility criteria for Skilled Worker/ Health and Care Worker visas as set out at gov.uk. Graduate visa holders should have no expectation of long-term employment through sponsorship. We are looking to appoint Specialty Doctors in Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals Dorset to work at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site, just a stone’s throw from the glorious blue flag beaches of Bournemouth and Poole. The Emergency Medicine team at UHD have a significant amount of experience and expertise in supporting doctors through the CESR programme, many of whom who now work as substantive consultants at both sites. We currently run a CESR programme which includes a bespoke professional development plan tailored to meeting the needs of the individual doctor including availability of placements in Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Acute medicine and Paediatrics, as well as mentor support from a consultant that has previously attained CESR. There is the option for successful candidates to participate in this programme if desired. Recently Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals have undergone merger into UHD, At present there is an Emergency Department at both Poole and Bournemouth sites, with RBH being the designated site for PCI and stroke thrombolysis, and Poole being the designated Major Trauma Unit as well as in patient paediatric services. To provide high quality emergency care, being competent in the normal range of emergency medical conditions and injuries. Direct clinical care will consist of scheduled shifts for the routine assessment and treatment of patients that present to the Emergency Department. Take part in the middle tier rota, covering 24 hours, seven days a week. Undertake professional development and participate in audit, ensuring all clinical governance areas are met. The successful candidate will join the existing Emergency Department team at UHD, supporting the Middle Grade tier. Responsibilities will include assisting the team in providing 24 hour emergency care to the population of Dorset.
