Do you think you can help him access a world when he cannot move or lift his hand? At the same time as checking his breathing is ok? He needs help so he can see the animals at the farm, bounce on a trampoline, stretch his aching muscles and broken body in a warm hydro pool whilst supporting his full weight. Can you check for signs he is not too tired or in any discomfort? Can you take initiative to help with other care tasks and cleaning, whilst being mindful of how much screen time he has had, even when he can charm you with a smile and belly laugh without sound? At night he needs help to maintain his airway, to move and position and to remain comfortable. Can you help him get a good nights rest? No experience does not limit you from applying. It is more important that you are the right person who will put this boys needs first and go the extra mile for him, and with him. We have space on our team for you if you can do one (or more) of the following : 1 - 2 nights per week ( to be part of the team and take on any night needed, inlcuding sharing weekends. Plus days/evenings. This will make up 24 hours. I like folk/traditional dancing and music, gardening, wildlife and cats. I like taking photographs and going for walks, for example in Goldenacre Park or on Otley Chevin. I can be very anxious, so I would like support in dealing with things that I'm worrying about, thinking about decisions I need to make or have made. I need support in finding other people who can support, like a driving instructor, accountant, tradespeople, and help with making phone calls. I am happy to have a support worker who is vegan or vegetarian, but they would need to be ok with being alongside me to cook meat and dairy products. About the employer: · Molly is a lively, happy seven year old who loves singing, playing and listening to music, role-playing games and bouncing on the trampoline. · Molly has Down Syndrome and has associated developmental delays. Molly is also on the pathway for assessment for Autism and/or ADHD. Molly can speak in full sentences to express her thoughts, feelings, wants and needs but speech clarity can be poor. Molly uses Makaton and visual timetables e.g a Now and Next board to support her understanding of others and her communication as she takes longer to process information. Molly can walk but uses a wheelchair for longer distances and to keep her safe when out and about as she has no awareness of danger. Molly is currently toilet training and has made significant progress since she started wearing pants in February 2024 through the use of timed toileting. Main duties: Social duties, for example, support to: · Support during family outings · Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends · Attend classes · Do hobbies such as going to the park / playing at home or out and about. · Attend social events such as music gigs or the cinema Personal care, Molly will need support with toileting including prompting to go and intimate care linked to this. Molly will need help dressing and undressing if activities require changing and will need support with food and drink e.g cleaning face and hands afterwards. These duties may vary from day to day.
