The location of this job will mainly be in Pudsey LS28 and local community. The child is attending a school in Meanwood and finishes school at 2pm. It is also feasible if something can be arranged in other areas, such as Gravity Trampoline Park in Kirkstall, Village Hotel swimming pool in Headingley, etc. You don't have to pick up the child from the school. He likes Lego, swimming, bouncy castle, trampoline, calculator, playground, soft play, column calculation, and a walk. Due to the incapacity to cope with noise and busy environment, he cannot concentrate on the activities, even his favourites, for a relatively lengthy period. He gets tired quickly. When you work with him, you need to observe the environment and his status, and you may need to take him to a quiet place or a walk to help him regulate when he feels over-stimulated. The child has difficulties in sensory processing, communication and emotional regulation. He can become very upset, crying and screaming, when things aren’t on his terms. You would need to be calm and confident to de-escalate the heightened situations. When it gets busy on playground, you will need to guide him - verbally and physically - to take turns and promote socially accepted behaviour. If he is unable to do so, you will need to guide him to a less-people-used equipment without causing his emotional outbursts. He doesn’t require physical support with personal care but does need a consistent reminder to not picking nose, biting fingers, and washing hands properly after toilet etc. Demand Avoidance means that he hates to be praised, ‘controlled’ and often does things opposite to what you have told/expected him. You need to remember NOT to praise him 'good boy', 'well done' or ' good job' at any time. He may run to toilets, hand driers and lifts when these things/symbols are in his sight. When you are outside, you need to be vigilant and prevent him from running towards them without you/your permission. We have a super-friendly 7 year old Labrador at home. Main duties: ■■ constant supervision side by side on playground, soft play, trampoline park, swimming pool, other play areas or at home, prompting social rules but not using praise or rewards. ■■ explore a range of activities he will like to do with you together, it can include visiting buildings with lifts, trampoline, soft play, playground, swimming and so on. ■■ support to go to parks together during school holidays, such as Stockled Park. ■■ to support independence, life skills and social well-being. ■■keep in touch and socialise with family and friends ■■attend social events such as the cinema These duties may vary from day to day. Requirements: Own car & clean driving licence, being able to lift and fit a wheelchair in the car I am a man, 66 years old, recovering from a serious illness, seeking a personal assistant. I am in a fragile health, easily fatigued and breathless which means I am not in a position to look after myself. My walking ability is limited so I use an electric wheelchair. The role involves making sure I am safe and supervised, keeping my daily schedule, i.e. meals need to be on time, I need to be taken out at a certain time (my energy is limited) etc. The role also involves providing general housekeeping (cooking lunch which is the main meal of the day, preparing afternoon snack and an evening meal, cleaning, hoovering, dusting, changing my bed, laundry etc) plus making phone calls on my behalf, answering emails, assisting me with planning and decision making, food shopping independently or occasionally with me, picking up my medication from local pharmacy, laundrette drop-offs and pick-ups, accompanying me to hospital appointments, accompanying me on my daily local 'fresh air' outings (I am on an electric wheelchair, so this involves walking with me at a reasonable pace and good distance), going out for a coffee or a meal, if I am well enough taking me out on a short trip in your car e.g. to a nearby cafe, park, accompany me to church and helping me with any other daily chores and responsibilities that may arise. I can manage short outings for up to max 1-2 hours including travel time. Applicants should be prepared to provide personal care if required, but this is not anticipated to be part of the routine work. My wheelchair weighs 10kg so physical ability to lift it in and out of a car boot is essential. There is a scope for more days and more hours once a good working relationship is established. Ideally my PA would also be available to stay overnight as a live-in carer to provide respite for occasional days, or up to a week, for my partner (who is my main carer). A degree of flexibility is required as extra hours may be needed for food shopping, for doctors appointments and any unexpected situations. I am immunocompromised so I need someone with excellent hygiene standards for food preparation, hand hygiene and general cleanliness of the flat. My interests include classical, pop and folk music, film, cooking (which I can't do at the moment), outdoors, reading and speaking British sign language. I am looking for a friendly, responsible and reliable person who knows how to work independently, who can fully understand my needs, health and risks, is professional and thorough in their work, strives for high standards, knows how to manage their schedule efficiently and juggle all duties on the day while making sure all my needs are met efficiently.
