Sales Director
Search Consultancy LTD - Leeds, West Yorkshire
£100,000 to £125,000 a year
HybridPermanentFull time
Sales Director Leeds with Nationwide Coverage Salary - circa £115,000 + Bonus and Company Car/Allowance Monday to Friday We are looking for an exceptional Sales Director to take overall responsibility for a large, geographically dispersed sales function within the retail and home improvements sector, leading a team of Regional Managers and up to 40 Sales Representatives across the UK. This is a high-impact leadership position for a genuinely commercial, hands-on sales leader who understands the retail and home improvements environment and knows how to drive performance today while building the strategy, structure and talent required for sustainable growth tomorrow. The Role As Sales Director, you will have overall responsibility for the performance and development of the national sales operation. You will lead through a team of Regional Managers while maintaining a strong connection with the wider sales team, ensuring the business has the right strategy, structure, targets and accountability in place to consistently deliver growth. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit purely at board level. We are looking for a player/manager - someone who can set the direction, challenge performance, get involved in key opportunities and inspire a high-performing sales culture. Key Responsibilities: Lead, coach and develop a team of Regional Managers and up to 40 Sales Representatives across the UK. Own the national sales strategy and translate it into clear, measurable commercial objectives. Drive revenue, margin, new business and overall sales performance. Set ambitious targets and create a culture of accountability and high performance. Work closely with Regional Managers to identify opportunities, remove barriers and improve regional performance. Stay close to key customers, major opportunities and strategic accounts. Lead from the front when required, supporting the team on significant pitches, negotiations and commercial opportunities. Analyse sales performance, market trends and customer data to identify areas for growth. Develop and implement longer-term plans around territory structure, sales capability, customer acquisition and retention. Identify, develop and retain high-performing sales talent. Challenge existing processes and ways of working to continually improve sales effectiveness. Work closely with the wider leadership team to align sales strategy with the long-term objectives of the business. Provide clear commercial insight and recommendations at senior leadership/board level. About You We are looking for someone who is extremely commercially minded and genuinely enjoys winning. Ideally, you will have strong experience within retail, home improvements, consumer-facing sales or a similar high-volume sales environment, with a proven track record of leading sizeable sales teams and delivering significant revenue growth. You Will Be: Highly commercially focused with a strong track record of delivering sales growth. An experienced leader of multi-site, regional or national sales teams. Comfortable managing through Regional Managers while still engaging directly with salespeople. A natural player/manager who is willing to get involved when it matters. Target-driven, competitive and motivated by results. Strong commercially and financially, with an understanding of revenue, margin, pipeline and ROI. Able to balance short-term sales delivery with long-term strategic thinking. An excellent coach who knows how to get the best out of experienced sales professionals. Confident challenging underperformance and raising standards. A strong communicator who can influence at both board level and on the sales floor. Strategic enough to build for the future but pragmatic enough to know when to roll your sleeves up and make things happen. The Opportunity This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant national sales function within an established retail and home improvements business and make a genuine impact on its next stage of growth. You will have the opportunity to shape the sales strategy, develop the leadership team, strengthen the wider sales operation and ultimately build a high-performing, scalable commercial function. If you're an experienced Sales Director or Senior Sales Leader with a strong commercial background in retail, home improvements or a comparable sector, I'd be keen to hear from you. Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
