We are looking for an Independent Victim Advocate (IVA) who is passionate, empathic and professional, to join our team of North Yorkshire based advocates and provide support services to anyone affected by crime. The role is part time at 18.5 hours per week which can be worked flexibly. It is a fixed term role currently in place until 31st March 2029. We are looking for someone to work in a hybrid position with some home based and some office based working with travel required across North Yorkshire. Key Responsibilities: Initial assessment of need, risk and safety Update the case management system Support individuals affected by crime to cope and recover Use a range of techniques including listening skills, resources and support skills About You Ideally, you will have some experience of holding a caseload, working with people to give support and information and have some knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system. About the Role As a Group Work Practitioner, you will be delivering a range of group work courses and programmes to adults affected by crime in the Thames Valley. You will be required to manage your own caseload and work in collaboration with other service delivery staff within the Thames Valley Adult Victims Service. The Thames Valley Adult Victims Service will provide emotional and practical support to adult victims of any crime. Support will primarily be delivered through specialist group work provision, alongside online and telephone support. About the role This role is based from home with a requirement for occasional travel to venues across the region to attend Team Days and other meetings as required. About You As the Co-production Co-ordinator you will lead on promoting and developing the co-production element of the London Service. You will manage and chair the Experts by Experience Panel which is the forum through which current and past service users can influence the development of the London DA Service (Safe Horizons London Partnership). The Safe Horizons London Partnership supports victims and survivors of domestic abuse to cope and recover from the impact crime has had on them, as well as supporting their journey through the criminal justice process. The service delivery model has been shaped by the views of service users and you will have an important role in growing their input and influence. You will recruit co-production champions from the staff team and support them to promote the benefits of co-production and recruit more service users into the co-production function. Safeguarding and wellbeing are important to us and you will ensure service users are supported during their membership of the Experts by Experience Panel. As a lead in this area, you will work with the management team, sharing the feedback you have obtained and helping it feed into policies and procedures. You will also support national co-production initiatives such as the Victim Voice app. You may also support the recruitment of service users to panels hosted by our partners including the Mayor's Office of Policing and Crime and the Metropolitan Police.
