IPS Employment Specialist
Get Set UK Group - London
£30,000 to £33,000 a year
PermanentFull time
Find the job first. Build the support around it. You might start the day with a clinical team, talking through who has been referred. Spend the late morning with someone who has been out of work because of anxiety, asking not what is wrong but what they want to do. Spend the afternoon on the phone to a local employer who has never heard of Get Set UK, asking about a vacancy. Three conversations, one aim: a paid job that someone chose and can keep. That is Individual Placement and Support (IPS). It rests on one belief: if someone wants to work, they should not have to prove they are job ready first. So the search starts quickly, in the community around Kensington and Westminster, and the aim is the right job, at the right time, with the right support around it. You do not need to be a clinician or have used IPS before. Full training is provided. The opportunity You are not selling a product. You are matching a person with a job they chose and helping an employer find someone who fits. You build a vocational profile, help with applications and interviews, and stay in touch with them and the employer after the start so the job lasts. Employers are half the work. You will not wait for advertised vacancies. You will approach local businesses, make cold calls, visit workplaces and introduce people whose strengths fit. Some days the plan you made at breakfast will not survive the first phone call. Someone's health may fluctuate, or an employer may say no. You will travel daily around your London area by public or other reliable transport, to health settings, community venues and workplaces. You will work to job start and sustained employment targets and keep records that meet IPS fidelity standards. It suits someone who combines empathy with action: you build trust without becoming passive, and work at pace without cutting corners. What you'll be doing Starting job searches quickly and matching people with open, paid roles. Preparing people for applications and interviews, and for decisions about sharing health information. Opening doors with local employers until a conversation becomes a vacancy. Working alongside clinical and wellbeing colleagues in a non-clinical role. What you'll need Essential (you need all of these): Experience of working towards measurable targets and deadlines. Experience of supporting, coaching or advising people towards a defined outcome, including quickly engaging people with limited confidence or experience of employment. Experience of helping people overcome practical barriers and move towards employment, education or another positive outcome. The ability to build trust, set clear expectations and challenge constructively where this helps someone progress. Clear communication with people, employers and partners, managing people at different stages. Confident use of case-management or CRM systems and Microsoft 365, with accurate records and an understanding of safeguarding and data security. Being comfortable approaching employers and travelling daily by public or other reliable transport. No specific qualifications are required. Desirable (welcome, not required): experience in employability or careers advice, B2B sales or recruitment. What good looks like in this role These describe how we work here. They are not extra essential requirements. Deliver results: when a job search stalls, you look at your own approach first, say what did not work and change it. People and Communication: you coach people to take the next step themselves and keep clinical colleagues and employers working towards the same goal. Get it right: you stay clear about being non-clinical, follow safeguarding and fidelity standards, and ask for another view when a situation is complex. Strategic direction: you treat each person's goals with respect, stay positive when a plan changes and try a different approach after an employer says no. Why join Get Set UK? You can follow one person from a first conversation about what they want to their first day in a new job, and keep going until the job sticks. We are part of Palladium, an international consulting and implementation business that operates in more than 50 countries. Palladium belongs to the Global Infrastructure Solutions Inc. (GISI) family of companies, which reported approximately $18 billion in annual revenue for 2025 and serves clients across more than 100 countries. In this role you will receive structured IPS training, management support, reflective supervision and regular feedback, and build specialist experience in supported employment and employer engagement. Be Considerate and Own It describe how we work: respecting each person's choices and following every action through. If you believe people experiencing mental ill health deserve meaningful, paid work and you are ready to help make it happen, apply. Tell us about the people you have supported and the outcomes you achieved. What you get Annual leave: 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service. For a full-time employee working five days per week in England, this normally equates to 33 days annually, five more than the statutory minimum. Entitlements are pro-rated where applicable. Healthcare and wellbeing: Vitality health and wellbeing support, including GP services, mental healthsupport and physiotherapy. Employee assistance: A confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, including up to six counselling sessions annually and legal, financial and debt guidance. Pension and shares: Workplace pension, with salary sacrifice available subject to eligibility and scheme rules. Access to a share buy scheme. Health and fitness: Up to £360 annually through IncentFit for eligible activities. Discounts: Wellbeing, retail, fitness, travel and mobile discounts, including 20% off eligible EE mobile plans. Recruitment process Apply through our recruitment platform and complete the short initial questionnaire. If you start your application through Indeed or LinkedIn, you will still need to complete this step before we can review your application. We assess applications against the essential criteria and the evidence provided. Keep your CV concise and show what you personally did, owned, improved or delivered. Shortlisted applicants may complete a recruitment call, Teams conversation, role-related assessment or hiring-manager interview, potentially including a practical exercise. Preparation, responsiveness and attention to detail matter. Any offer is conditional on satisfactory applicable pre-employment checks. Safer recruitment Get Set UK is committed to safer recruitment practices to help protect our colleagues and the people we support. As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to provide a complete and accurate history of your employment and other relevant activity for the previous five years, including explanations for any gaps, together with referee details covering the previous three years.
