In the absence of the Home Manager, to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the care home, and ensure that all Company policies and procedures, and all legal requirements, are adhered to within the defined timescales. Principal Duties To ensure appropriate standards are maintained by monitoring and that appropriate professional support is provided to senior staff /team leaders. Appropriate reviews of care plans /risk assessments and medication administration. To ensure all assessment tools are in place and are fully utilised. Ensure all residents have a complete care assessment prior to admission to the home, taking account of their physical, social and psychological needs. To ensure as a minimum an annual re assessment of each resident’s needs. Deploy staff efficiently in relation to care duties to be covered by setting up and controlling the duty rota. Check and monitor care staff hours and authorise time sheets in absence of Home Manager. To establish good personal relationships with residents and their families. Work with the Home Manager to ensure all induction and mandatory training is completed. To identify other specific training needs. To work with the Home Manager on achievement of action plans from external regulators or internal support functions. Candidates must have managed a team for at least 2 years with knowledge to efficiently co-managing the house budgets, overseeing the development of staff and the young people in placement, formulating and updating placement plans, risk assessments and positive therapeutic parenting. Candidates must have achieved a level 3 children's residential/children's workforce or level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Residential or a higher qualification in relation to the role. It is essential for the candidate to have a full UK driving licence. Role is 40 hours per week, with the role split between operational and administrative responsibilities. Approximately 20 hours will be spent on shift, working alongside and supporting the staff team, with the remaining 20 hours allocated to administrative duties and providing support to the Registered Manager. The administrative hours will be flexible and will be arranged at the discretion of the Registered Manager, depending on the level of support required at the time. The usual shift pattern is 7:00am–7:30pm. Where a sleep-in is required, the shift will run from 7:00am–10:00pm, followed by the sleep-in. There is also an expectation for the Deputy Manager to participate in the on-call rota, approximately 1–2 weekends as required.
