    Children's Residential Senior Support Worker

Break Charity - King's Lynn, Norfolk

    £28,028 to £28,978 a year

    On-sitePermanentFull time

The Vacancy Senior Support Worker Salary: £31,925 to £32,875 per annum, depending on qualifications. (Including 5 sleep-ins per month paid at £64.95 per night). This role will require a minimum of 5 sleep-in's per month paid additionally at £64.95 per night. Hours: Full time (38 hours per week) Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk Why Break? At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services. We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you’re just starting your career in children’s social care or are already qualified, you’ll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work. About You As a Break Senior Support Worker, you’ll be working hands-on day in day out with the young people living in the children’s home and act as the senior shift worker in the staff team. While there will be still an opportunity to work directly with young people, you’ll also take on some extra responsibilities – line managing support workers, overseeing staff performance and welfare, and directing staff and resources effectively during shifts, including participation in an on-call rota to ensure continuous service delivery. For some young people, the behaviours caused by the trauma they have experienced means they need additional support. Break’s solo children’s homes offer these individuals the full attention they need to be able to thrive. You’ll work with a tight-knit team of colleagues to build a relationship and trust bond with the young people living at the home. You’ll be patient, a positive role model, supporting them in overcoming their previous trauma and learning to trust in adults again, along with the help and guidance of your colleagues and Break’s therapeutic services. You will encourage new experiences, supporting the young people to develop their own identity. To be successful in the role you’ll be a good team player, and a problem solver. You will need to successfully complete a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within the first 24 months of support work. This will be fully funded by Break and you will be supported by our training team. Please note that you must have a full, valid, manual driving licence. The basic annual salary range for this role is £28,028 to £28,978 per annum. If your application is successful, your job offer will be based on these amounts. In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits: • Free, career-enhancing qualifications • A “golden hello” scheme welcoming you to our services, with £500 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £500 at the six-month mark. (Not available to candidates referred by recruitment agencies) • A referral scheme offering the same two payments as the golden hello if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by Break in care services. (subject to conditions) • 31 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays) • Annual leave purchase • Additional service-related holiday from 2 years • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) • Company funded medical cash plan • Enhanced sick pay and family friendly leave • Pension salary sacrifice • Life assurance to the value of 3x your annual salary • Access to the Blue Light benefits platform enabling you to access discounts across a range of shops, venues and services (your membership fee will be reimbursed) • Access to multiple Wellbeing initiatives • The opportunity to influence Break’s strategy and direction through our Staff Consultation Forum • Cycle to Work and Tech scheme • And more Full details of the role, including a job description and person specification can be found within the ‘documents’ section. If you would like to develop your career and make a real difference in a child or young person’s life, use the ‘apply now’ button to be taken to our application site. We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates as they apply. This means the role may close at short notice and without prior warning. Additional Information People are our biggest asset in our organisation. We recognise that the key to providing the highest quality of care is to ensure we have a diverse workforce using their life experiences to give the children and young people a well-rounded right start in life.
