Summary
Deputy Care Manager. Join a homecare service families already ask for by name, and build your career as it grows.
£28,000 to £32,000 a year, plus mileage at the full HMRC rate and a wellbeing package paid for in full by us: your own 24/7 private GP, counselling, physiotherapy, life coaching and over 1,500 everyday discounts. Full time, permanent. Office in St Albans, service growing across Hertfordshire.
Starling Homecare is family run, founded by a husband and wife who had already spent more than a decade building and running an award-winning homecare service in Hertfordshire. We are CQC registered, independently owned and established in St Albans, providing visiting care across St Albans, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Hatfield, and live-in care across Hertfordshire.
Our ambition is to support as many people as possible across Hertfordshire to receive high quality care at home. We are growing carefully, with new offices to follow this one, and that means real career opportunities for the right people. This role exists because of that ambition: deputy now, with Registered Manager roles opening up as we grow, and two founders who have done it before and will back you all the way.
Why the right person leaves a good job for this one: where you are, you are a number; here, you are a name, in a business owned and run by people who are in the office with you and make decisions in days rather than quarters. Where you are, progression depends on someone leaving; here, it depends on us growing, and we are. Where you are, you develop everyone and nobody develops you; our leadership team comes from training and development and takes it seriously, including support towards your Level 5. Where you are, you hold the standard and nobody notices; here, the standard is the whole point of the business, and that is where the pay band, the mileage and the wellbeing package come from.
The role: you will own the care side of the service, working directly with our Registered Manager. That means assessments and care plans, supervision and development of the care team, safeguarding, infection control, quality and audits, handling concerns and complaints, building relationships with GPs, pharmacies and discharge teams, and running the service day to day when the Registered Manager is not there. On-call is covered on a shared rota with the rest of the management team, and there is always someone to call.
How we work: we look after each other, because the people who care for others need to be cared for just as much. A Registered Manager in the office with you, founders who would rather you asked than struggled, and a team that notices when you have had a hard day.
What you get: £28,000 to £32,000 depending on experience; mileage at 55p per mile for management and community work; support towards your Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care; company pension; a wellbeing package paid for in full from six months; and real opportunities to progress to Registered Manager as new offices open.
How to apply: apply through our website at the link below and tell us about one thing you have been responsible for that went wrong and what you did about it. A person reads every application, and every applicant gets a reply.
