Summary

At Starling Homecare, we are building something special. We are a family run, independently owned homecare provider based in St Albans, on a continued mission to build the leading heart-first homecare service: the one families in Hertfordshire ask for by name when someone they love needs support at home. We are CQC registered and provide visiting care across St Albans, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Hatfield, and live-in care across Hertfordshire.

The role

As Senior Care Coordinator, you will be at the heart of how our service runs day to day. You will make sure our carers are in the right place at the right time, and that every client receives consistent, reliable support from people they know. You will work closely with the Care Manager, our clients and our care team to manage the rota and respond calmly when needs change.

What you will do:

- Plan and manage rotas so care is consistent and efficient

- Match carers to clients based on skills, availability and continuity

- Keep our scheduling system up to date with new packages, changes and cancellations

- Work with the Care Manager to identify resourcing needs

- Respond to last-minute changes, sickness and emergencies in a calm, professional way

- Support carers with scheduling queries and guidance

- Keep clients informed about timings and changes

- Take part in our shared on-call rota

- Help maintain compliance with CQC standards and our own procedures

What we ask of you

We should be honest about what this role asks. We are an early stage organisation, and at this stage everyone steps in when the service needs it. The people we support do not need us only between nine and five. This is a Monday to Friday role, but rotas change, carers call in sick and clients' needs shift at short notice, including in the evenings and at weekends. This role needs someone who is flexible, who takes their turn on our on-call rota, and who is prepared to roll their sleeves up while we grow. It is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now.
