Summary
At Starling Homecare, we are building something special. We are a family run, independently owned homecare provider based in St Albans, bringing good old fashioned values back into care. We are CQC registered and provide visiting care across St Albans, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Hatfield, and live-in care across Hertfordshire.
The role
As Care Supervisor, you are part of the link between our office and the care our clients receive at home. You will spend much of your week out in the community: meeting new clients, undertaking initial assessments, reviewing care plans, and supporting and mentoring our carers. You will work alongside the Senior Care Supervisor and the Care Manager. We are family run, so you will be supported from your first day, in a team that takes learning seriously and backs its people to develop.
What you will do
- Hold initial client meetings and undertake initial assessments, so care starts safely and well
- Carry out client care plan reviews and keep care plans and records up to date
- Introduce carers to new clients and help new packages of care start well
- Carry out spot checks and observations of care in clients' homes
- Mentor and support carers, particularly those new to the team
- Listen to feedback from clients and families and pass it on so things are put right quickly
- Cover care visits when the service needs it
- Take your share of the on-call rota
- Help maintain compliance with CQC standards and our own procedures
What we ask of you
We should be honest. We are an early stage organisation and everyone steps in when the service needs it. The people we support do not need us only between nine and five. This is a Monday to Friday role, but rotas change, carers call in sick and clients' needs shift at short notice, including in the evenings and at weekends. This role needs someone who is flexible, who takes their turn on our on-call rota, and who is prepared to roll their sleeves up while we grow. It is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now.
What we offer
- £25,500 to £27,500 a year, depending on experience
- Mileage at the HMRC approved rate of 55p per mile for supervisory work in the community, using your own car
