We’re seeking an experienced SAP Payroll Officer to support a live payroll system implementation within a pensions and payroll environment. This is a hands-on, project-focused opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running, contribute immediately and operate confidently within a fast-paced implementation programme.
This is not a BAU payroll administration role. You must have proven SAP payroll expertise and practical experience of system implementation, testing and data validation. There is no capacity for upskilling, so strong technical knowledge and the ability to work independently from day one are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands-on SAP payroll support throughout a live system implementation.
Undertake User Acceptance Testing (UAT), parallel runs and payroll validation.
Complete data checks, reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
Track, investigate and support the resolution of system defects.
Work closely with HR, Finance, IT teams and third-party suppliers.
Support implementation activities, ensuring payroll data and processes are accurate and reliable.
Operate independently within a project environment, proactively identifying issues and delivering solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
Demonstrable, hands-on SAP payroll experience – essential.
Experience working directly within SAP, rather than indirect exposure.
Proven involvement in payroll system implementations, upgrades or migrations.
Strong practical experience of UAT, parallel running, data validation and reconciliations.
Experience identifying, tracking and resolving system defects.
Confidence working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Ability to work autonomously and make an immediate contribution to a live project.
Desirable
Public sector experience.
CIPP
Exposure to multiple payroll systems alongside SAP.
Experience supporting wider HR and payroll transformation programmes.
Please note: Candidates with only iTrent or other non-SAP payroll experience will not be considered. This role requires substantial SAP payroll systems and project implementation experience, not simply payroll processing or administration.
