Job Title: Data Migration Lead (HR Transformation)
Location: Bristol
Rate: £547.57 per day PAYE (flexible holiday increment) equiv to £735 pd Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Contract: Temporary – 6 months (option to extend a further 6 months)
Sector: Public Sector – Transformation / HR Systems
Working Pattern: Full-time / Hybrid 3 days on site/2 days hybrid
We are recruiting for an experienced Data Migration Lead to join a large, high profile transformation programme within a highly regulated public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned data migration professional to showcase their expertise, bring structure to a complex delivery environment, and play a pivotal role in a major HR systems modernisation programme.
The Role:
You will lead and coordinate HR data migration activity across a large transformation programme, ensuring data cleansing, mapping, validation and reconciliation activity is delivered to a high standard. Working across business, technical and delivery partner teams, you will bring clarity, governance and assurance to a critical workstream involving sensitive people data.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end to end approach to HR data migration, ensuring analysis, cleansing, mapping, validation and reconciliation activity is effectively planned and delivered.
Establish clear governance, controls and assurance processes to support data accuracy, completeness, consistency and security.
Coordinate business and technical input into data analysis, cleansing and validation, ensuring the right subject matter expertise is engaged at the right time.
Oversee source to target data mapping, transformation logic and migration documentation, ensuring decisions are clearly captured and assured.
Identify and manage data migration risks, issues, dependencies and discrepancies, driving timely resolution across stakeholder groups.
Provide clear, evidence based updates to senior stakeholders on migration progress, risks and readiness.
Ensure robust validation and reconciliation processes are in place to confirm migrated data is complete, accurate and fit for business use.
Support evolving programme priorities, contributing to data quality standards and future governance frameworks.
You will need:
Proven experience leading data migration, data cleansing or data quality activity within a complex programme environment.
Strong understanding of data migration principles including profiling, cleansing, mapping, validation and reconciliation.
Experience working with large or complex datasets and identifying data quality issues.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex data issues to non technical audiences.
Understanding of data protection and information security, particularly relating to sensitive people data.
Desirable Experience:
Experience with HR data domains (employee records, payroll, talent, learning).
Exposure to ERP transformation, ideally Oracle Fusion.
Familiarity with data cleansing tools such as Excel, SQL or data quality platforms.
Experience working in a shared service or public sector environment.
