An additional leadership opportunity
For candidates with the appropriate experience, there is the opportunity to take on responsibility as KS1 Phase Leader. This attracts a TLR payment and a fortnightly half-day of leadership release. The role combines leadership, monitoring and coaching: supporting colleagues, modelling strong practice, securing consistency across the phase and helping to drive whole-school priorities.
We are looking for someone who:
• is an effective, reflective classroom practitioner with high expectations for every child;
• understands the importance of strong early reading, phonics, writing and mathematical foundations in KS1;
• creates a calm, purposeful and inclusive classroom where positive relationships and behaviour for learning flourish;
• uses assessment well to adapt teaching and secure progress from pupils’ different starting points;
• is confident in adapting provision for pupils with SEND, EAL and other barriers to learning;
• works collaboratively, communicates well and contributes positively to the wider life of the school;
• is committed to safeguarding, equality and the wellbeing of children.
• can model high-quality teaching, inclusion and classroom management;
• can support and coach colleagues with planning, assessment, behaviour and adaptive teaching;
• can use monitoring, pupil outcomes and professional dialogue to identify strengths and areas for development;
• can build consistency across KS1 while maintaining a supportive, solution-focused team culture;
• is ready to work closely with SLT and the SENCo to improve provision and outcomes for all pupils.
