Summary
KS1 Teacher - Ealing
Ealing, West London
Full-Time | M1-M6 Inner London
£206-£268 per day PAYE
The first book a child reads independently.
The first time their writing becomes a story rather than a collection of sentences.
The moment number suddenly makes sense.
And, sometimes just as importantly, the first time a child puts their hand up because they've finally become confident enough to have a go.
That's what makes Key Stage 1 such an important stage of primary education.
A school in Ealing is looking for a full-time KS1 Teacher who understands how to turn those early foundations into curiosity, confidence and a genuine appetite for learning.
You'll take responsibility for your own KS1 class, planning and delivering the curriculum across the school week.
Strong teaching of early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics will naturally form an important part of your role, but the school is looking for someone who understands that young children learn in many different ways.
Your classroom should be somewhere children can talk, investigate, practise, make mistakes, ask questions and gradually become more independent.
You'll:
- Plan and teach the KS1 curriculum
- Deliver structured phonics and early reading
- Develop pupils' writing, vocabulary and communication
- Build strong foundations in mathematics
- Use assessment to identify progress and gaps in learning
- Adapt teaching for different abilities and additional needs
- Establish positive routines and expectations
- Work effectively with teaching assistants and support staff
- Build constructive relationships with parents and carers
- Contribute to planning and development across the wider school
A successful KS1 classroom contains children developing at very different rates.
One pupil may already be reading confidently while another is still securing their sounds. Some children arrive ready to work independently; others need considerably more reassurance and structure.
You'll need to recognise those differences and adjust your teaching without lowering expectations.
We're looking for a teacher with:
QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
A secure understanding of early reading and phonics
Confident classroom management
Good assessment and differentiation skills
A commitment to inclusive teaching
Strong communication and organisational skills
Just as importantly, you'll need the energy and patience that teaching younger primary pupils demands.
The position is full-time, with pay equivalent to M1-M6 Inner London (£206-£268 per day PAYE).
You'll join a collaborative school team with opportunities to share practice, participate in professional development and contribute to the wider direction of teaching and learning.
If KS1 is where you do your best teaching - and you enjoy being part of those important first years of a child's education - we'd like to hear from you.
