Contract: Long-Term temporary, Temp to Perm
Long Term Futures is looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Aston. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with pupils and wants a role where they can provide both classroom and targeted SEMH support.
You'll spend your mornings working alongside the class teacher, supporting pupils with their learning, engagement and behaviour. In the afternoons, your focus will shift to 1:1 and small-group interventions, helping identified pupils develop their emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and ability to engage positively with school.
In this role, you will:
- Provide general and targeted support within the classroom each morning.
- Deliver structured 1:1 and small-group SEMH interventions during the afternoons.
- Help pupils recognise and regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
- Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who may find aspects of school challenging.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and greater independence.
- Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and the pastoral team to monitor pupil progress.
You'll need:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, SEMH TA, Behaviour Mentor or Learning Mentor.
- Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
- Confidence working both within the classroom and on a 1:1/small-group basis.
- Someone who can build rapport while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
Why Apply?
- Long-term stability in one school rather than day-to-day supply.
- A varied role combining classroom experience with targeted SEMH work.
- Opportunity to develop your experience delivering interventions.
- A supportive school environment with the chance to make a meaningful impact on individual pupils.
Long Term Futures is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
