Support children with complex SEND needs to regulate, engage and make meaningful progress within a specialist primary provision.
Long Term Futures are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a primary school in Smethwick.
You'll support children with Autism (ASC), Speech and Language needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Pupils may present with complex and challenging behaviours, so we're looking for someone confident, resilient and experienced in providing consistent SEND support.
In this role, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the SEND provision
- Support pupils with Autism, communication difficulties and SEMH needs
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviour
- Help pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and communication
- Follow individual support, behaviour and learning plans
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
You'll need:
- Previous experience supporting primary-aged children with complex SEND
- Experience with Autism, SEMH and/or Speech and Language needs
- Confidence supporting challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- School, SEND provision or specialist setting experience is highly desirable
