We are working with a welcoming secondary school in

Wolverhampton

who are looking for an enthusiastic

Graduate English Teaching Assistant

to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use the skills and knowledge you've developed through your degree while helping students become

more confident readers, writers and communicators.

The Role

You'll work alongside experienced members of the English department, providing additional support to students across the curriculum.

You'll have the opportunity to work

1:1, in small groups and within lessons, supporting students with different abilities, learning needs and levels of confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing

    1:1 and small-group support

    across English

  • Supporting students with reading, writing and comprehension
  • Helping pupils develop their

    analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • Supporting essay writing and helping students

    structure and develop their ideas

  • Reinforcing challenging topics and explaining concepts clearly
  • Encouraging students to engage with English Language and Literature
  • Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and classroom tasks
  • Helping students develop

    confidence and independent learning skills

  • Providing additional literacy support where required
  • Building positive and encouraging relationships with students
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
  • Providing feedback and observations on student progress where appropriate
  • What are we looking for?

    We're looking for a graduate who can combine

    strong English subject knowledge with a genuine interest in supporting young people.

    You'll ideally have:

  • An

    English, English Literature or closely related degree, ideally at 2:1 or above

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of your subject
  • The ability to communicate ideas clearly and adapt your explanations
  • A genuine interest in working with young people
  • Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude

  • The confidence to build positive relationships with students
  • Previous school experience isn't essential.

    Experience in tutoring, mentoring, volunteering or other roles working with young people would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in graduates who have the

    right attitude, communication skills and enthusiasm

    to succeed.
