looking for a role where you can put your degree to practical use?

Do you enjoy working through problems, explaining ideas and helping others develop their understanding?

We are working with a supportive secondary school in

Wolverhampton

who are looking for an enthusiastic

Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant

to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable school-based experience while supporting students to become more confident and independent in Maths.

The Role

Working alongside the school's experienced Maths teachers, you'll provide additional support to students who may need further guidance with their learning.

You'll have the opportunity to work with pupils

1:1, in small groups and within the classroom, giving you experience of supporting learners with a range of abilities and needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing

    1:1 and small-group support

    in Maths

  • Helping students understand and apply mathematical concepts
  • Breaking down more challenging topics into manageable steps
  • Supporting pupils with

    problem-solving, reasoning and independent learning

  • Helping students develop confidence where they find Maths challenging
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated tasks
  • Encouraging positive participation and engagement
  • Supporting students to become more independent in their learning
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
  • Sharing observations and feedback on student progress where appropriate
  • What are we looking for?

    The successful candidate will have:

  • A

Mathematics or closely related degree, ideally at 2:1 or above

  • Strong mathematical knowledge and analytical skills
  • The ability to communicate and explain ideas clearly
  • A genuine interest in working with young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A

    patient, supportive and enthusiastic approach

  • The confidence to build positive relationships with students
  • You don't need previous classroom experience.

If you've worked with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or another setting, that's great - but we're also keen to hear from graduates who simply have the right attitude and a genuine desire to help students succeed.

What can you gain from the role?

This is a great opportunity to develop

real-world experience within a secondary school

and gain an insight into what a career in education could look like.

    You'll develop experience in:

  • Supporting students with different learning needs
  • Communicating complex ideas in an accessible way
  • Mentoring and motivating young people
  • Supporting classroom learning
  • Working alongside experienced teaching professionals
  • Developing your confidence and transferable skills
  • The role could provide excellent preparation for

teacher training, tutoring or a wider career in education.

    Ready for your next step?

If you're a Maths graduate who wants to

use your subject knowledge, gain valuable experience and help young people grow in confidence, we'd love to hear from you.
