Established in 1961 and operating across Barking and Rush Green campuses, we support thousands of learners and apprentices each year to develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need to thrive.With significant investment in our facilities — including our East London Institute of Technology — we provide outstanding learning and working environments for both staff and students.Our Careers Progression team plays a vital role in empowering students within our community to build confidence to progress into employment.What You’ll Be DoingReporting to the Director of Student Welfare & Support, the Careers Progression Team Leader will provide operational leadership and coordination of the College's Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) service, ensuring high-quality delivery of careers guidance, work-related learning and progression support. The postholder will oversee the day-to-day operation of the careers service, ensuring students receive consistent, impartial and high-quality careers guidance, while supporting the College to meet statutory requirements and national benchmarks. This role combines operational leadership with direct delivery of one-to-one careers guidance, providing students with the support they need to make informed decisions about their future pathways. You will; Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the College's careers service, ensuring effective coverage, prioritisation and responsivenessDeliver high-quality, impartial one-to-one careers guidance interviews to students across all cohortsSupport priority groups, including vulnerable learners, SEND students and those at risk of becoming NEETLead and support delivery of the College's CEIAG programme, ensuring alignment with Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory guidanceDevelop and maintain strong relationships with employers, higher education providers and external partners to enhance progression opportunitiesSupport and mentor Careers Progression Coaches and Careers Advisors, promoting high standards of professional practiceMonitor service quality, student destinations and progression outcomes, supporting continuous improvement and compliance requirementsCoordinate careers fairs, employer engagement activities and progression events to enhance the student experienceWhat We’re Looking For;We are looking for a passionate and committed individual, who understands the transformational impact of Further Education.You should have:Minimum Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance & DevelopmentEnglish and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or aboveIn addition, you will demonstrate:Experience delivering careers guidance/IAG in an education or similar environmentExperience coordinating or supporting a careers, employability or progression serviceExperience working with employers, higher education providers and external stakeholdersKnowledge and understanding of CEIAG frameworks, Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory guidanceStrong communication, interpersonal and presentation skillsAbility to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing operational demandsCommitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusionExperience of supporting young people from diverse backgrounds to achieve positive progression outcomesIf you are passionate about helping learners realise their ambitions and progress into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further training, then we want to hear from you.What’s In It for You?We offer a wide range of benefits, including:A competitive salary Generous holiday and pension packagesOngoing CPD and strong links with industryFree parking and access to travel-to-work and technology assistance schemesThe opportunity to be part of a passionate, supportive team focused on learner successAdvert closing date: 27/09/2026Interviews taking place from 05/10/2026Barking & Dagenham College is committed to best practice relating to safer recruitment and safeguarding.
