Summary

We are recruiting for a specialist primary school supporting pupils aged 6-11 on the autism spectrum. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment where each child can thrive.

Joining a collaborative multi-disciplinary team based in Crawley, you will support a teacher in lesson delivery and help provide a broad, creative curriculum. This role is ideal for a dedicated educator eager to make a real difference for neurodivergent pupils and their families within a school that prioritises staff wellbeing and development.

We operate a strict no-sponsorship policy; all applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Working Hours: Mon/Wed/Thu 8:15AM - 4:45PM, Tue 8:15AM - 5PM, Friday 8:15AM - 4PM.

Key Duties

  • Establish warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to ensure they feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.

  • Encourage personal development and independence in daily tasks and social interactions.

  • Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom and adapt to the evolving needs of the school.

  • Support the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development of each pupil.

  • Adapt to various tasks to ensure smooth school operations. Full training will be provided for occasions where physical intervention may be required.

Must Haves

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • Prior experience working within a special educational needs (SEN) or special school environment.

  • Able to provide your own vehicle preferred due to the site's semi-rural location.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check.

Benefits

  • Term time working only.

  • £1000 welcome bonus subject to employer's stipulations.

  • Continued training and development opportunities, including Teach Teach training.

  • Shopping and transportation schemes including UK health cash plan.

  • £1,000 refer-a-friend programme.

  • 24/7 employee assistance programme and network of supportive and nurturing staff.
