Summary

Salary: £88-£105 per day // Working Hours: 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday

Are you a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? We are seeking a compassionate professional to join our supportive team in Dorking, specialising in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

In this rewarding role, you will work alongside class teachers to deliver impactful 1:1 and small group student support, helping pupils re-engage with learning, navigate emotional challenges, and build meaningful relationships within a nurturing educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted academic and behavioural support to individual pupils or small groups.

  • Assist class teachers with classroom management, lesson preparation, and learning activities.

  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Support pupils with emotional self-control and conflict resolution using positive behaviour strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and report achievements or challenges to teaching staff.

  • Escort and support pupils during lunch breaks, physical activities, and school trips where required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Qualifications:

    GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent standard). Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

  • Prior experience working with children or young people, preferably within an SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision environment.

  • Strong communication skills, patience, emotional resilience, and a proactive approach.

  • High levels of empathy, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with challenging or vulnerable pupils.
