Some of the most rewarding teaching happens when progress looks different for every child.

A supportive school in Southall is looking for a SEND KS1 Teacher to join its team from January.
This is an opportunity for a teacher who wants to combine strong KS1 practice with a more individualised approach to learning, while developing specialist experience that could shape the next stage of their career.
You'll work with KS1 pupils who may have a range of additional needs, including:
Autism (ASC) • ADHD • SEMH • Speech, Language & Communication Needs • Sensory Needs • Learning Difficulties
Your teaching will need to recognise that children may learn, communicate and engage in very different ways.
You'll create purposeful learning experiences that are accessible, engaging and appropriately challenging for each pupil.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons for KS1 pupils.
- Adapting curriculum content around individual learning needs.
- Creating personalised learning opportunities where appropriate.
- Using assessment to identify starting points and measure meaningful progress.
- Supporting pupils to work towards individual and EHCP outcomes.
- Developing strategies around communication, interaction and engagement.
- Creating consistent classroom routines that help pupils feel secure and ready to learn.
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Using visual, sensory and practical approaches to make learning accessible.
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants to maximise classroom support.
- Monitoring progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborating with the SENCO, families and other professionals supporting individual pupils.

We're looking for someone who combines strong teaching practice with patience, adaptability and genuine curiosity about individual learners.
You'll ideally:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
- Have experience teaching within KS1, primary or a relevant SEND setting.
- Understand the expectations of the primary curriculum.
- Be confident adapting teaching for different abilities and additional needs.
- Recognise that progress for pupils with SEND may need to be measured in different ways.
- Create engaging, structured and inclusive learning environments.
- Have strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
- Work effectively with Teaching Assistants and support professionals.
- Communicate confidently with parents, carers and other professionals.
- Be reflective and willing to continually develop your SEND practice.
- Have a genuine interest in building specialist education experience.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
