Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) or recently qualified Primary Teacher for an exciting opportunity within a specialist education setting near Newton Abbot, Devon.
This role is ideal for a teacher at the beginning of their career who is interested in gaining experience within SEN, SEND and specialist education. You do not need previous experience working in an SEN school - full support, guidance and opportunities for professional development will be available.
The school offers a positive and supportive environment, where teachers work with smaller classes and can take a flexible, creative approach to meeting the needs of individual pupils.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills as a Primary Teacher while building specialist knowledge and experience in supporting children with additional needs.
Every pupil has different strengths, interests and learning needs, so teaching is highly personalised. You will have the opportunity to adapt your approach, create engaging learning experiences and help pupils develop both academically and personally.
The school environment includes:
- Smaller classes and increased opportunities for individualised teaching
- A supportive team with experience in SEN and specialist education
- Time for planning, preparation and personalised learning
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- Support for teachers who are new to SEND and SEN education
- Creative, practical and flexible approaches to the curriculum
- Opportunities to incorporate outdoor learning and activities
- A focus on building pupils' confidence, independence and life skills
- Enrichment activities designed around pupils' interests and development
- A collaborative environment where new ideas are encouraged
As an Early Career Teacher / Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment where pupils can make progress at their own pace.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Primary lessons for pupils with a range of learning needs
- Differentiating and adapting teaching to suit individual abilities
- Creating meaningful, practical and creative learning activities
- Building strong and positive relationships with pupils
- Supporting pupils' academic progress, confidence and personal development
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist colleagues
- Contributing to individual learning targets and personalised support plans
- Encouraging independence, communication and essential life skills
- Using a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate pupils
- Supporting wider school activities, enrichment and outdoor learning
- Developing your knowledge of SEN, SEND and specialist teaching approaches
This position would be particularly suitable for an ECT, Early Career Teacher or recently qualified Primary Teacher who is looking for a supportive environment in which to begin or develop their teaching career.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds QTS or equivalent
- Is an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or recently qualified teacher
- Has a Primary teaching background or Primary teacher training
- Is passionate about helping children achieve their individual potential
- Has a patient, positive and adaptable approach
- Enjoys thinking creatively about how to engage pupils in learning
- Is interested in gaining experience within SEN and SEND
- Can build positive and professional relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is keen to learn from experienced staff and develop specialist skills
- Brings enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine commitment to education
Experience in SEN, SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision or specialist education would be an advantage, but is not essential. The school is happy to support a strong ECT or Primary Teacher who has the right attitude and is keen to learn.
- £150-£230 per day, depending on experience
- Weekly pay
- A full-time, long-term teaching opportunity
- Potential for the role to become temp-to-permanent
- Dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment consultant
- Straightforward registration and compliance support
- Access to CPD and professional development opportunities
- Specialist SEN and SEND training
- The opportunity to gain valuable experience in specialist education
- Ongoing support throughout your placement
