Duration: Full-time | Long-term | Temp-to-Perm

Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed SEMH Teacher to join a supportive specialist education setting near Newton Abbot, Devon, with opportunities available across both Primary and Secondary age groups.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about helping young people re-engage with education, build confidence and achieve their potential.

The role would suit an experienced SEMH, SEN or SEND Teacher, as well as a teacher from a mainstream background who is looking to develop their experience within specialist education.

You do not need extensive previous SEMH experience. The school offers a supportive environment, experienced colleagues and opportunities for professional development, making this an excellent setting for teachers who are keen to develop their specialist skills.

The school provides a positive, nurturing and structured environment for pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.

Teaching is highly personalised, with a focus on understanding each pupil as an individual and helping them make meaningful progress both academically and personally.

You will have the opportunity to:

- Teach smaller groups and provide more individualised support.

- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils.

- Adapt lessons to suit different abilities, interests and learning styles.

- Develop creative and engaging approaches to teaching.

- Support pupils with their confidence, emotional wellbeing and engagement.

- Help pupils develop independence and essential life skills.

- Work alongside experienced SEN and SEMH professionals.

- Take part in enrichment, practical and outdoor learning activities.

- Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture.

- Develop your knowledge and experience within specialist education.

As an SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils.

Depending on your experience and preference, opportunities may be available within Primary or Secondary provision.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Planning and delivering engaging lessons for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

- Differentiating and adapting teaching to meet individual needs.

- Creating a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment.

- Building trusting and professional relationships with pupils.

- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.

- Using creative and practical approaches to engage learners.

- Managing behaviour positively and consistently.

- Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff.

- Contributing to individual learning targets and support plans.

- Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly.

- Encouraging communication, social skills and personal development.

- Supporting enrichment, practical and outdoor learning opportunities.

- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals where appropriate.

We are looking for a teacher who is positive, patient, adaptable and passionate about supporting young people.

You may be an experienced SEMH/SEN Teacher, or a mainstream teacher looking for an opportunity to move into specialist education.

We are looking for someone who:

- Holds QTS or equivalent.

- Has experience teaching Primary or Secondary pupils.

- Is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.

- Has a patient, positive and nurturing approach.

- Can build strong and meaningful relationships with pupils.

- Is confident adapting teaching to individual needs.

- Enjoys creating engaging and creative learning experiences.

- Has a calm and consistent approach to behaviour.

- Is resilient, enthusiastic and committed.

- Is keen to develop their experience within SEMH and specialist education.

- Works well as part of a supportive team.

Experience within SEMH, SEN, SEND, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist education would be an advantage but is not essential.

Teachers from mainstream settings who are keen to make the move into specialist education are encouraged to apply.

- £150-£230 per day, depending on experience.

- Weekly pay.

- Full-time, long-term teaching opportunity.

- Primary and Secondary opportunities available.

- Potential for the role to become temp-to-permanent.

- Dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment consultant.

- Straightforward registration and compliance support.

- Access to CPD and professional development opportunities.

- Specialist SEN, SEND and SEMH training.

- The opportunity to gain valuable experience within specialist education.

- Ongoing support throughout your placement.
