Luma Education Recruitment is working with a welcoming and specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon, that is looking for an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) - Primary to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ECT Primary Teacher who is interested in developing a career within SEN and specialist education. Previous SEN experience is not essential, with the setting offering comprehensive training, guidance and ongoing professional development to help you build your confidence and specialist knowledge.
With small class sizes, dedicated planning time and a highly personalised approach to learning, this setting provides an excellent environment for an ECT to develop their teaching practice while gaining valuable experience supporting pupils with additional needs.

As an ECT Primary Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons appropriate to individual pupil needs
- Adapt and differentiate learning to make the curriculum accessible
- Develop creative, practical and engaging learning opportunities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Monitor pupil progress and celebrate individual achievements
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider education team
- Contribute to personalised learning and development plans
- Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and life skills
- Make effective use of outdoor learning and the wider school environment
- Encourage participation in enrichment and extra-curricular activities
- Develop your understanding of SEN and specialist teaching approaches
- Take advantage of training, mentoring and professional development opportunities
This role would suit an Early Career Teacher (ECT) / recently qualified Primary Teacher who is looking to develop their career in a supportive specialist setting.
SEN experience is not essential. The school is particularly interested in teachers who are passionate about teaching, willing to learn and committed to building positive relationships with pupils.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Qualified with QTS or equivalent
- An Early Career Teacher (ECT) or recently qualified Primary Teacher
- Experienced within primary education
- Passionate about helping every pupil reach their potential
- Patient, nurturing and adaptable
- Creative and enthusiastic in their approach to teaching
- Interested in developing their knowledge of SEN and specialist education
- Confident working as part of a supportive team
- Keen to learn and take advantage of training opportunities
- Committed to delivering personalised and engaging learning
Previous experience in SEN, SEND, specialist education, Alternative Provision or SEMH would be welcomed but is not essential.
