Recent Graduate Looking to Build a Career in Education?

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience working with young people in an education setting?

We are currently recruiting for Graduate Learning Support Assistants to join a mainstream college in Merseyside on a full-time temporary-to-permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain experience before progressing into a career in teaching, education, psychology, SEN, youth work, counselling or other people-focused professions.

You will work alongside teaching and support staff to provide individualised support to students aged 16+ who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and a range of additional learning needs.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will:

- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with additional learning needs.

- Support students to access their education and fully participate in college life.

- Help students overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence.

- Provide support in the classroom and during independent learning activities.

- Build positive and professional relationships with students.

- Encourage students to become more independent and confident learners.

- Work alongside teaching staff to implement individual support strategies.

- Support students with literacy, numeracy, organisation and general learning activities.

- Gain an understanding of EHCPs, SEND and inclusive education.

- Monitor student engagement and provide feedback to teaching and support staff.

Who Are We Looking For?

This role would be particularly suited to recent graduates who are passionate about working with young people and are considering a career within education.

You may have studied subjects such as:

- Psychology

- Education

- Sociology

- English

- Health & Social Care

- Youth & Community Work

- Childhood Studies

- Or another relevant degree.

You do not necessarily need previous college experience. We are interested in graduates who can demonstrate the right attitude, communication skills, patience and enthusiasm for supporting young people.

Experience working with children, young people, vulnerable adults, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or within care/support environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why This Role Is Ideal for Graduates

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain genuine, hands-on education experience while being supported by experienced teaching and SEN professionals.

It can provide an excellent foundation for graduates considering careers such as:

- Teacher / PGCE

- SEN Teacher

- Educational Psychology

- Teaching Assistant / Learning Support

- Youth Work

- Counselling

- Social Work

- Speech & Language

- Pastoral Support

- Behaviour Support

The role is temporary with the opportunity to become permanent, providing the potential to establish a long-term career within the college.

If you're a recent graduate looking to get your foot in the door within education, this could be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a real difference to young people's lives.

Apply today to be considered for this Graduate Learning Support Assistant opportunity in Merseyside.
