We are currently recruiting for Education Support Workers to join a mainstream college in Merseyside, supporting students aged 16+ with complex learning and additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates looking to gain valuable experience within an education environment, particularly those with backgrounds in care, support work, SEN, health and social care, youth work or education.
The students you will be supporting have a range of complex needs and may require high levels of individualised support, including personal care.
The role is offered on a full-time temporary-to-permanent basis, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your experience and potentially secure a permanent position within the college.
The Role
As an Education Support Worker, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex learning and additional needs.
- Support students to access their education, curriculum and wider college environment.
- Follow individualised support plans and strategies based on students' EHCPs.
- Encourage students to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
- Support students with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Assist students with practical and classroom-based activities.
- Provide a high level of personalised care and support where required.
- Undertake aspects of personal care, which may include toileting, changing, feeding and supporting students with mobility.
- Work alongside teaching staff and specialist support teams to meet individual needs.
- Promote dignity, respect and independence at all times.
- Help students overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in college life.
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with students.

Previous experience within education is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience and a person-centred approach.
