Summary
The IT Testing Professional will be responsible for ensuring that software applications, systems, websites, and IT solutions meet required quality, functionality, performance, security, and usability standards before they are released to users. The role involves planning and performing testing activities, identifying defects, documenting test results, and working closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other technical teams.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
Review business requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and system designs to understand testing requirements.
Prepare and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and testing checklists.
Perform functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and user acceptance testing as required.
Execute manual and automated test cases across websites, applications, software platforms, and IT systems.
Identify, investigate, document, and report software defects and system issues using appropriate testing or project-management tools.
Provide clear information about defects, including steps to reproduce the issue, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
Work closely with software developers to investigate defects and verify that fixes have been successfully implemented.
Re-test corrected issues and perform regression testing to ensure that changes have not affected existing functionality.
Test applications across different browsers, operating systems, devices, screen sizes, and environments where required.
Conduct API, database, data validation, and system integration testing when applicable.
Monitor application performance and identify functionality, usability, reliability, or performance-related issues.
Support the preparation and maintenance of testing documentation, reports, and quality records.
Participate in project meetings, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and discussions relating to software quality and delivery.
Communicate testing progress, outstanding defects, risks, and potential quality issues to relevant stakeholders.
Assist with release testing and provide feedback on whether systems are ready for deployment.
Maintain accurate records of test execution, results, defects, and testing evidence.
Help improve testing procedures, quality standards, test automation, and overall software development processes.
Follow company IT security, data protection, quality assurance, and testing procedures.
Stay informed about new testing tools, technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
Provide technical support to project teams by identifying potential quality risks and recommending appropriate solutions.
Ensure all testing activities are completed accurately, consistently, and within agreed project deadlines.
