Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Full-Time

Primary School - Fazakerley, Liverpool, Merseyside

Contract: Full-time, term-time (Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30)

Start Date: September 2026

Daily Rate: £125-£135 per day (dependent on experience and paid in line with experience/scale)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool is seeking to appoint a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their supportive team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled education professional who is passionate about supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and development. The successful candidate will work across the primary age range, providing high-quality classroom support, delivering interventions, leading learning activities, and taking responsibility for classes when required.

The school has a strong community ethos, dedicated leadership team, and commitment to ensuring every child receives the support and opportunities they need to thrive. The successful HLTA will play a key role in raising pupil achievement and creating a positive, engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teaching and learning across the curriculum in partnership with class teachers and in line with school policies and planning

• Deliver structured interventions and targeted support to improve pupils' progress, confidence, and independence

• Lead whole-class learning activities and provide lesson cover during teacher absence, PPA time, or planned release time

• Adapt and differentiate activities to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities, including SEND, SEMH, and EAL needs

• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development through effective relationships and positive role modelling

• Monitor pupil progress, assess learning, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and relevant staff

• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and a safe and supportive classroom environment

• Work closely with teachers, SENCO, support staff, and families to ensure pupils receive appropriate support

• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, trips, clubs, and school events

What We're Looking For:

• HLTA qualification/status or significant relevant experience working at a higher level within a school setting

• Previous experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school environment

• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective classroom practice

• Confidence delivering lessons, leading groups, and managing a class independently when required

• Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

• A proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children's education

• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and helping every pupil achieve their full potential

Desirable:

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs

• Knowledge of intervention programmes and strategies to accelerate progress

• Experience working across different primary key stages

• Safeguarding training, Team Teach, or First Aid qualification
