Daily Rate: £125-£135 per day (dependent on experience)
A welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Wallasey, Merseyside is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic HLTA who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development while playing a key role in the day-to-day delivery of high-quality education.
Working across the primary age range, you will support teaching and learning, lead intervention programmes, and confidently deliver whole-class teaching during teacher PPA time, training, and planned absences. You will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to help ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes in line with teachers' planning.
- Provide whole-class cover during PPA time, leadership release, training, and planned teacher absence.
- Plan, prepare and adapt learning activities where appropriate to meet pupils' individual learning needs.
- Deliver targeted intervention programmes to raise attainment in literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas.
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEND, SEMH and EAL, ensuring inclusive practice at all times.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, providing accurate feedback to teachers and contributing to pupil assessment.
- Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing in line with the school's behaviour policy.
- Support teachers in creating an engaging, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external professionals to support pupil outcomes.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including educational visits, enrichment activities and school events.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
- HLTA Status or an equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
- Recent experience working within a UK school.
- A secure understanding of the National Curriculum.
- Confidence in leading whole-class learning independently.
- Experience delivering effective intervention programmes that improve pupil progress.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong behaviour management and classroom management skills.
- A flexible, proactive and professional approach to supporting teaching and learning.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and EAL.
- Knowledge of phonics programmes, guided reading, maths interventions and assessment for learning strategies.
- Current First Aid, Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour management training.
- Experience using school management and assessment systems.
