We are looking to appoint a committed and caring Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Fazakerley on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with autism (ASC) and learning difficulties. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to grow in confidence, develop key life skills, and make progress both academically and personally through tailored support.

The Role

In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team to support pupils with autism and learning difficulties throughout the school day. You will help pupils engage with learning, access personalised activities, and develop their communication, independence, and emotional regulation skills in a positive and supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism and learning difficulties.

Assist in delivering learning activities that are adapted to meet individual needs.

Support pupils to access the curriculum in line with their EHCP targets.

Use positive and consistent behaviour support strategies.

Encourage development of communication, social skills, and independence.

Support pupils with routines, transitions, and structured activities throughout the day.

Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.

Observe and feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Support pupils across all aspects of the school day, including classroom learning and break times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Support Assistant within an SEN or school environment.

Experience supporting children or young people with autism (ASC) and learning difficulties.

A good understanding of SEN approaches and strategies.

A calm, patient, and supportive manner.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

A Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification is desirable but not essential.

A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs to reach their potential.
