Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure, Python, PyTest, SQL and test automation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks for cloud-based data platforms and data engineering solutions. The role will focus on ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of data pipelines, transformations and integrations across the Microsoft Azure and Fabric ecosystem.
This is a hybrid contract opportunity, starting in the first week of September 2026, offering a rate of £275 per day Outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain robust automated testing frameworks using Python and PyTest.
Develop automated tests for Microsoft Fabric and Azure-based data solutions.
Validate data pipelines, transformations, integrations and data quality across multiple systems.
Build and execute automated functional, integration, regression and data validation tests.
Develop reusable test scripts and utilities using Python.
Perform database and data validation testing using SQL.
Test data ingestion and transformation workflows within Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
Validate source-to-target data mappings, transformation logic and business rules.
Identify, document and track defects through resolution.
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
Work closely with Data Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Developers and Architects to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Analyse test results, troubleshoot failures and provide clear reporting on defects and quality risks.
Contribute to test strategy, test planning and continuous improvement of automation practices.
Maintain test documentation, automation frameworks and testing standards.
