About the Role

A welcoming and nurturing primary school in Rochdale is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity to support children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping to create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

Working closely with the class teacher, you will support children's learning and development through play-based activities, small group work, and individual interventions. You will help to foster children's social, emotional, and communication skills while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.

- Encourage children's language, communication, and social development through play-based learning.

- Support children with personal care and toileting where required.

- Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

- Observe, monitor, and record children's progress, reporting back to the class teacher.

- Assist with classroom preparation, displays, and learning resources.

- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.

- Promote positive behaviour and support children's emotional wellbeing.

The Successful Applicant Will

- Have experience working with children within an Early Years or childcare setting.

- Have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.

- Be patient, caring, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young children's development.

- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Be confident supporting children's learning through play.

- Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work the required hours.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

- Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Educator, Childcare, or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.

- Paediatric First Aid qualification.

- Experience supporting children with additional needs or SEND.

- Knowledge of phonics programmes and early language development.

- Experience working in a nursery, preschool, or primary school EYFS setting.
