Summary
Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Runcorn. The school is looking to appoint a compassionate, resilient and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis from September.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support a new pupil joining the school in Year 2. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the child settle into their new school environment, build positive relationships and access learning. The pupil is a Looked After Child (LAC) with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and has experienced significant early-life deprivation. The school is seeking a nurturing individual who understands the importance of trauma-informed practice and can provide consistent, supportive guidance throughout the school day.
Your new role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher, SENDCO and wider pastoral team to provide dedicated 1:1 support for the pupil. Your focus will be on helping them feel safe, valued and engaged in school while supporting their academic, social and emotional development.
You will build a trusting relationship with the pupil, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs and using positive, therapeutic strategies to encourage engagement, emotional regulation and resilience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Implementing consistent, positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
- Supporting the pupil to access the Year 2 curriculum through differentiated learning activities.
- Delivering regular wellbeing check-ins and promoting emotional literacy.
- Encouraging the development of positive relationships with peers and staff.
- Supporting structured play, break and lunchtime activities to aid social interaction.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCO, external agencies and carers to ensure a consistent approach.
- Monitoring progress, recording observations and contributing to support plans where appropriate.
What you'll get in return:
- Highly competitive rates of pay.
- A long-term full-time opportunity within a supportive primary school.
- Dedicated support from an experienced Desian Education consultant.
- Free CPD and professional development opportunities.
- Company pension scheme.
- Full holiday entitlement.
- Access to exclusive education vacancies.
- Refer a Friend bonus scheme.
