Cover People are recruiting on behalf of a specialist primary school in South Manchester seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and has built its approach around the belief that children learn best when they feel understood, valued and secure.

The school's nurturing ethos is embedded throughout everything they do. Staff work collaboratively to create a calm and structured environment where pupils are encouraged to develop resilience, regulate their emotions and build the confidence needed to engage successfully with learning. Every achievement is recognised, and every child is supported to reach their own individual goals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide classroom support to pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs

- Encourage engagement in learning through positive encouragement and consistent routines

- Work closely with teachers to adapt activities to meet individual learning needs

- Help pupils develop independence, emotional regulation and confidence

- Support the delivery of personalised interventions and therapeutic approaches

- Contribute to a positive, safe and welcoming learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, SEND or care

- A calm, resilient and adaptable approach

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

- An understanding of the importance of consistency and emotional support

- A genuine desire to help children overcome barriers to education

- Teaching Assistant qualifications are welcomed but not essential
