Summary
We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to work on a full-time basis in Ashton at an Alternative Provision. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or someone with a strong interest in supporting pupils with additional needs within a specialist education setting.
You will be responsible for supporting pupils across the school by delivering pre-planned lessons and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment in the absence of the class teacher. Working closely with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and the wider school team, you will help ensure pupils remain engaged, supported, and able to access their learning.
Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities across different subjects and year groups.
- Support pupils with SEND to access learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Manage classroom behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, teachers, SENCO, and other professionals.
- Provide encouragement and support to pupils throughout the school day.
- Adapt approaches to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or a strong interest in specialist education.
- Confident managing a classroom and promoting positive behaviour.
- Is patient, adaptable, and able to build strong relationships with pupils.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Can follow lesson plans and support learning effectively.
- Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time.
- Experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant.
- Cover Supervisor CPD Training.
