About the Role
A specialist secondary SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated, resilient, and passionate SEN Teacher to join their experienced team. The school supports pupils aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and other complex learning needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring every pupil can access education and achieve their individual goals. Working within a highly supportive and collaborative environment, you will play a key role in promoting pupils' academic progress, independence, social development, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
- Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs
- Monitoring, assessing, and recording pupil progress in line with school policies
- Contributing to the development and review of EHCP targets and individual learning plans
- Implementing effective behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Supporting pupils' personal, social, and emotional development alongside academic achievement
- Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues

The Successful Applicant Will
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status
- Have experience teaching secondary-aged pupils
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching strategies
- Be confident adapting lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs
- Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be patient, resilient, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available for the required working pattern
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision, or SEND setting
- Experience supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, or complex needs
- Knowledge of EHCPs and person-centred planning
- Team Teach, MAPA, or similar positive behaviour support training
- Experience working alongside therapists and multidisciplinary teams
- Subject specialism in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, or Functional Skills
