About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The school is committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide tailored support both on a 1:1 basis and within small groups, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence and independence throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs

- Supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties

- Adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil requirements

- Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and support strategies

- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development

- Supporting pupils' engagement, confidence, and independence in the classroom

- Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals

- Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing

The Successful Applicant Will

- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND

- Be patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach

- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills

- Be confident supporting pupils with varying learning and behavioural needs

- Demonstrate a nurturing and proactive attitude

- Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability

Desirable:

- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification

- Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs

- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication strategies

- Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour support training

- Previous experience within a school or specialist SEND setting
