SEN Teaching Assistant - SEN School, Speke

Location: Speke, Liverpool

Contract: Long-term

Full Time: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)

Pay: £110 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Expected End Date: End of the academic year

A specialist SEN school in Speke is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity until the end of the academic year, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The school is committed to ensuring every pupil is supported to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide personalised support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning while developing their confidence, independence, and communication skills.

Providing 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning to meet individual pupil needs

Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs

Using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other AAC methods where appropriate

Assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development

Supporting the implementation of EHCPs, behaviour plans, and therapeutic strategies

Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff

Helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive

Ongoing CPD and training in areas such as behaviour management and communication strategies

Have experience supporting children or young people with ASC, SEMH, or other additional needs

Be calm, resilient, and proactive, with a nurturing and patient approach

Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full-time

PECS, Makaton, BSL, or AAC training (desirable)

Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)

MAPA, Team Teach, or similar de-escalation training (desirable)

Competitive daily rate of £110 per day

Full-time working hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
