We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Speke on a full-time basis, starting September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with autism (ASC) and learning difficulties. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised learning and specialist support.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support pupils with autism and learning difficulties both in the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, enabling pupils to access the curriculum while developing their communication, confidence, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism and learning difficulties.

- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.

- Support pupils to access the curriculum in line with their individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

- Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive behaviour management strategies.

- Encourage pupils' communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence.

- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, therapists, and other professionals to support pupil development.

- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

- Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities where required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar role within an SEN or educational setting.

- Experience supporting children or young people with autism (ASC) and learning difficulties.

- A good understanding of SEN and inclusive classroom practice.

- A calm, patient, and caring approach with excellent communication skills.

- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

- A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
