Education Wellbeing Officer - Citywide Waverley Court Salary: £40,501 - £47,639 (pro rata for part-time) Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks x 3 posts Hours: 24 per week, 52 weeks x 1 post The Education Wellbeing Service (EWS) is part of the City of Edinburgh Council's, Education Inclusion and Wellbeing Service. The EWS aim is to promote wellbeing and inclusion and supports children, young people and their families working with schools, partners and families collaboratively to address barriers to school attendance. The service operates through 4 core functions; Consultation and Advice, Assessment and Intervention, Data for Improvement and Professional Learning including family education and wellbeing programmes. The EWS also has a responsibility to assist schools to implement the local authority Maximising School Attendance Policy, for supporting at key points of transition, Children Missing in Education, Part-time Timetables, support for GRT, Refugee and Migrant families, MARAC, EEI, and the City of Edinburgh Council's approach to the Scottish Government Children and Young People's Community Mental Health framework, working with community partners to help children and young people access community-based services that support and improve their mental health and wellbeing. An Education Wellbeing Officer (EWO) will work within an EWS locality team to collaborate with schools and learning communities. EWOs will provide advice and support to schools using data to inform priority areas of work. EWOs will work with schools through the Attendance Lead, school staff and other agencies to co-construct collaborative approaches to enable families to "get the right support at the right time". EWOs offer targeted work with children, young people and families through GIRFEC as part of the team around the child. This includes attending meetings in schools, visiting family homes and supporting children, young people and their families in the community. EWOs will facilitate and support wellbeing programmes for children, young people and families and collaborate with partners in this work to offer support and preventative approaches. Previous experience of working with children, young people and families is essential. An EWO must have the ability to work with initiative and flexibility managing their time effectively, have strong communication skills to work within a locality team and as part of the EWS and uphold strong relationships between all partners. Teacher (Inclusion) - Fixed term until 26/11/2027 St Thomas of Aquin HS Learning Community Salary: £36,159 - £54,453 Hours: 35 per week The St Thomas of Aquin HS Learning Community is fully committed to the inclusion of children and young people with Additional Support Needs. Around 795-810 of learners across the Learning Community have Additional Support Needs. As a valued member of the Learning Community Inclusion Team, you will work with school leaders, class and subject teachers, Support for Learning and Pupil Support staff to strengthen school capacity to meet the needs of children and young people with Additional Support Needs through strong universal provision and appropriate targeted support. Key areas for this work are learning, teaching and assessment; personalised support; transitions; partnerships (particularly with parents and carers); ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion. This role will involve working with learners with a range of additional support needs from ages 3-18. We are looking for an ASL teacher who is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for learners with Additional Support Needs and who has: Appropriate specialist knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with Additional Support Needs using inclusive approaches and pedagogy. Knowledge and understanding of key legislation and guidance in relation to inclusion, GIRFEC and wellbeing. Understanding of good practice and evidence base in the field of inclusion. The ability to work collaboratively with a range of practitioners to create high quality inclusive learning environments. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
