The client has bandages over the majority of their body, which are covering open wounds and blisters which require specific care to avoid infection. This is an extremely painful procedure, and the client has specific pain medication prescribed to help with this. There will also always be a carer present who knows the client well to provide them with emotional support and reassurance throughout the process. This task is currently completed by their parent, who understandably finds it very difficult, and now that our service user is older, would like to be able to train up someone else to support with this task. We are looking for: Someone who is committed long-term term as training could take up to 6 months before the person is confident in doing this task alone (full pay is still received during this period) Someone who is able to focus on the task at hand and remain detached from their feeling and emotions. We are looking to recruit a small team of carers on a 2-week rolling rota covering Monday to Sunday, Days (depending on availability). You must be able to work alternate weekends. Theory and Practical training will be provided free of charge to ensure you have the correct skills and knowledge to support this service user's needs. This is an amazing opportunity to learn new skills and progress in your health and social care career. Practical clinical training will be delivered by one of our nurses so you can learn first-hand from their expertise. What are your duties as a Healthcare Assistant in this package? Our Support Worker roles are considered more of a companionship role by building up key relationships and promoting independence through daily tasks for our service user within her own home, and especially within the community. Our Service User is supported on a 2:1 basis, with activities that will be based around what he enjoys doing, such as playing the piano, listening to music, colouring and but most importantly, suggesting new ideas and opportunities that serve the service user's best interests, by going above and beyond. At times, he will display behaviours that challenge and require staff to support him to self-regulate. You will need to communicate with him effectively and appropriately. You will also be given the opportunity to build a positive relationship with the Service User and their family. We are looking for someone who is resilient, strong-minded, but also outgoing, confident and willing to take on new challenges.
