    A Vacancy at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. Our service has an exciting opportunity for a CYP Psychological Trainings: Therapy Trainee Autism Spectrum Condition/Learning Disabilities (ASC/LD) to join our team as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes. This government-funded initiative promotes the growth and skill of the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. NHSE covers salary and training costs for a one-year full-time position, allowing services to employ trainees to support specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support. This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in the service making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families. Course start date: 18th January 2027 Training Information This full-time training will begin in January 2027 with around 2-3 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service seeing clients (children, young people, and carers) related to training assignments. Trainees will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with UCL/Anna Freud. Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma. Main duties of this training role include: • With the assistance of their clinical supervisor accept appropriate referrals; • Assess clients for suitability for the treatment for which modality specific training is provided; • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary; • Formulate, implement and evaluate therapeutic intervention for clients in line with their training modality and experience; • Involve the system around the child in treatment as appropriate, e.g. parent/carer, school, conveying therapy formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language; • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate; • Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service; • Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols; • Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. The Assertive Outreach Worker will deliver time‑limited and intensivesupport to adults with severe mental illness (SMI) who are at risk of disengaging from care. The service will be delivered in close collaboration with colleagues from partner agencies. Therefore, the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential. The postholder will: • Provide assertive, flexible, and persistent outreach, including home visits, community‑based contacts, and phone/text engagement • Act as a consistent keyworker, building therapeutic relationships with individuals who find it difficult to engage with services. • Work within a stepped 6‑month model of intensive support, transition, and reintegration into routine CMHH care. • Deliver holistic, person‑centred interventions addressing mental health, physical health, housing, substance use, and social needs. • Work collaboratively with the CMHH MDT, crisis services, inpatient wards, and external agencies to ensure continuity of care and safe transitions.
