Job Description Based at Forfar Early Learning & Childcare Centre, Forfar Community Campus, Kirriemuir Road. This job is workstyle 1 - Fixed. In this workstyle most of your time is spent undertaking the direct delivery of front-line services work. Depending on your role there may be a limited requirement to access a specific council location during the course of the working week if you are not delivering your service at a council location. Angus Council currently operates the following models in their early learning and childcare settings: ELC Model 1 – children’s funded entitlement is 190 set days at 6 hours per day ELC Model 2 – children’s funded entitlement is 152 set days at 7½ hours per day ELC Model 3 – children’s funded entitlement is 228 set days at 5 hours per day ELC settings in models 1 and 2 will open over term-time. ELC Model 3 is different as these settings are open for more hours every day and are only closed to children for two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, three weeks in July/August and a further three public holidays and five in-service days. Therefore, they are offering ELC over 46.6 weeks of the year. This also means staff can use their annual leave and non-working time in a different way to staff working term-time. Whilst some of the leave will be decided in advance (that is, when the setting is closed), staff working in these settings will also be able to apply for additional time off while the setting is open. You will work peripatetically across two early learning and childcare centres, they are Forfar ELCC (ELC Model 1 and 3), and Carnoustie ELCC (ELC Model 1 and 3). Your base location will be Forfar ELCC. Working 36.25 hours per week on various working patterns Monday to Friday, your working year is 251 days per annum. Working 30 hours per week, you will provide assistance to people living with a mental health diagnosis in the community. Duties will include: providing assistance with daily living tasks, involvement in the ongoing assessment and review of service users needs, assisting service users to maintain social contacts and to make use of available services and information. You must have good oral and written communication skills, experience of working with people with a mental health diagnosis and of carrying out personal care. As part of the team, you must be able to work unsupervised, independently and on your own initiative as required. You must have sensitivity and understanding in dealing with vulnerable people, a non-judgemental and respectful attitude along with the ability to act appropriately in a crisis situation. You will be expected to work a 24 hour, 7 days shift pattern, which comprises of : Early = 8am-4pm, mid = 9am-5pm, late = 1pm-9pm, night duty = 9pm - 7.30am.
