Summary

About us:

Freight Meter Ltd is a freight forwarding and logistics company near Heathrow. We provide air, sea and road freight, customs clearance, warehousing and 3PL fulfilment to UK businesses that import and export goods.

The role:

Every shipment we handle creates sales and supplier invoices, many in foreign currency, together with overseas payments and a monthly payroll. We need two officers to take over this work. One post focuses on the sales and purchase ledgers and the other on payments, bank reconciliation and payroll preparation. You will report to our Financial Accounts Manager (or, until that post is filled, our Director).

Main duties:

• Raise sales invoices from completed job files and record customer receipts.

• Check supplier invoices against job costs and schedule them for payment.

• Prepare sterling and foreign-currency payment runs for approval by the Financial Accounts Manager or Director and release them once approved, and reconcile our bank accounts, including our multi-currency account.

• Prepare monthly payroll information and send it to our external accountant, who runs the payroll and submits RTI returns. Check the payroll reports against our records.

• Prepare VAT and customs duty workings and keep an up-to-date list of overdue customer invoices.

Essential requirements

Requirements: • At least two years’ experience in accounts, bookkeeping or payroll. • Experience with sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliation and supplier payments, and with foreign-currency payments. • Good working knowledge of VAT and RTI payroll. • Experience of accounting software and strong Excel skills. • AAT Level 3 or above, or an equivalent bookkeeping qualification. AAT Level 4 or a degree in accounting or finance is preferred. Benefits: 28 days’ paid holiday including bank holidays, and a workplace pension.
