Summary

About us:

Freight Meter Ltd is a freight forwarding and logistics company near Heathrow. We provide air, sea and road freight, customs clearance, warehousing and 3PL fulfilment to UK businesses that import and export goods.

The role: As we grow, we need a qualified accountant to take charge of our finance function. You will report to the Director and supervise our two Accounts and Payroll Officers, keeping invoicing and payments separate and giving the directors reliable monthly figures. Selected Candidate will report to the Director.

Main duties:

• Run the monthly close and produce management accounts.

• Prepare and review VAT returns and reconcile customs duty and import VAT payments to HMRC.

• Manage cash flow and weekly payment planning and propose supplier payments for approval.

• Supervise the Accounts and Payroll Officers.

• Review the payroll prepared by our external accountant and liaise with them on year-end accounts and tax.

• Prepare budgets and forecasts and keep our records ready for HMRC enquiries.

Essential requirements

Requirements: • A degree in accounting, finance or a related subject. • A professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA or equivalent), part or fully qualified. • At least three years’ experience in accounts, ideally in freight, logistics or international trade. • Experience of month-end close, management accounts, VAT, cash-flow management and supervising staff.
