Summary
Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Sheffield to recruit an experienced School Finance Administrator on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy school office team and play a key role in supporting both the financial and day-to-day administrative operations of the school.You'll be working in a child-focused environment where teamwork, professionalism and excellent customer service are highly valued. This varied role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while supporting the smooth running of the school.
As the School Finance Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the school's financial administration while also assisting with wider office duties when required.Your responsibilities will include:✅ Processing purchase orders, invoices and payments
✅ Assisting with budget monitoring and financial record keeping
✅ Maintaining accurate financial systems and databases
✅ Reconciling accounts and preparing financial information for reporting purposes
✅ Managing school income, including trips, dinners and other payments
✅ Supporting payroll and staffing administration where required
✅ Providing reception cover during busy periods and staff absences
✅ Welcoming visitors, parents, contractors and external agencies to the school
✅ Managing and directing incoming telephone calls and email enquiries
✅ Maintaining pupil and staff records in accordance with GDPR requirements
✅ Supporting the wider administration team with general office duties and correspondence
What you will need to succeed:
✔ Previous experience working in a school finance or school administration role
✔ Knowledge of financial processes including invoicing, purchase orders and payment administration
✔ Experience using school systems such as SIMS, Arbor, FMS or similar would be advantageous.
✔ Excellent organisational and administration skills with strong attention to detail
✔ Confident communication skills and a professional telephone manner
✔ Ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents and visitors
✔ Experience working in a busy reception or front-of-house environment
✔ Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
✔ An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one through Hays
